However, its deployment raises critical concerns regarding fairness, transparency, accountability, and the protection of fundamental rights, particularly the right to a fair trial. This lecture examines global approaches to AI governance in courts, highlighting emerging international standards and ethical frameworks. It critically evaluates the balance between technological innovation and judicial integrity, emphasising the need for human oversight to ensure justice remains principled, impartial, and aligned with the rule of law.
